This year’s ANAVET Cup showdown has a unique twist in that both clubs are guaranteed spots in the national Junior A championship tournament, the Royal Bank Cup, which is being held in Dauphin next month.
The Kings, who won a franchise high 50 games this season, will be the host team at the RBC, while La Ronge will represent Saskatchewan/Manitoba.
For the first time in three years a new ANAVET Cup champion will be crowned, with Humboldt Broncos having won the cup the last two years. The last time an MJHL team captured the ANAVET Cup was back in 2007 when Selkirk Steelers went to the RBC.
