On February 18th, the Slovak's pulled off the first upset of the Olympics as they defeat the Russian's with a 2-1 victory in a shootout.
Pavol Demitra had the game winner and Jaroslav Halak was spectacular for the Slovak's making 36 saves and stoning Alex Ovechkin twice in the shootout that lasted seven rounds.
It was a case of history repeating itself as the Slovak's also stunned Russia 5-3 in group play at the Turin Games in 2006.
Despite the loss, Russia remains on top of Group ‘B' and now face a must win on Sunday against the Czech Republic. Meanwhile Slovakia now face Latvia on Saturday and have put themselves in a great position to advance to the quarterfinals.
