Canada beats the Swiss with strong performances at both ends

Last evening Canada pulled off a shutout win against the Swiss after a long hard fought battle where offense was stalled as Jonas Hiller stopped 44 out of 47 shots. Broduer stopped a total of 23 shots stymieing each shooter in the shootout.

Canada out shot the Swiss in all three periods, but was hard fought for a goal in the third period as Hiller stood tall in the opposing end. At one point he made two back to back saves by stretching out along the goal line and then proceeding to make a quick glove save to stop the play.

As it came to the shootout the first 7 shooters were all stopped, and then Crosby was sent out once again. With a quick release to Hiller's low blocker side Canada won the game.

With Canada pulling off a huge win, recapturing a victory against the Swiss who previously beat them in the 2006 Olympics, they are now looking ahead to play the United States.
