MJHL Recent News

The Swan Valley Stampeders defeated the Neepawa Natives in this weeks closing MJHL exhibition game before the regular season. The Stampeders rose to victory with a 2-1 shootout win. A great performance by both teams, the matchup can be described as a "goaltenders duel" as both goaltenders combined for a total of 85 regulation shots. Chris Ward of the Stampeders was awarded with the win as Kelly Andrew received the shootout loss.

In other Manitoba Junior News, Joe Caligiuri recently signed with the Dauphin Kings. Caligiuri brings a wealth of talent and experience to the roster for the Kings. His resume includes playing 3 years in the WHL with the Brandon Wheat Kings and then the Prince George Cougars.
Dauphin will be a standout team this year as they host the 2010 RBC Cup. Caligiuri hopes to help jump start the Kings season with a win on the road coming September 11th, against the Winnipeg Saints.

Previously, both goaltenders, Chris Ward and Joe Caligiuri, played for the Winnipeg Wild of the Manitoba AAA Provincial Midget Hockey League. Each of them recently instructed at this summers week long Regional Camp in Winnipeg.
